Updated 2026-10-07 · Measured from Cook County's own published records

1,227 Evergreen Park homeowners took a property tax appeal to a decision in 2024, and 229 of them got a reduction. That's 18.7 percent. Here's what the county's own records say about your odds and which deadline is yours.

Can you still appeal in Evergreen Park?

Almost every home in Evergreen Park sits in Worth Township, and that's what decides your appeal dates, because Cook County opens appeals one township at a time.

Cook County gives you two separate free appeals on the same assessment, at two different offices. Here's where Worth Township stood when we checked both calendars on October 7, 2026.

The Assessor was taking appeals for Worth Township until 10/15/2026. Filing is free and you do it yourself.
The Board of Review hadn't published Worth Township's window yet. It releases a group of townships at a time, and it opens after the Assessor's window closes. Its evidence deadline falls ten days after its filing deadline, so you can file first and send your evidence after.

Dates from the Cook County Assessor's calendar and the Board of Review's published schedule, checked October 7, 2026. If you have this page open, the dates above update to today's on their own.

What actually wins an appeal in Illinois

Now, in Illinois you don't win by arguing what your house would sell for. You win by showing that homes pretty much like yours, nearby, are assessed lower per square foot than yours is. The state appeal board asks for at least three comparable homes, and if you sit above their range you have a case. If you're inside the range or below it, honestly, no amount of paperwork changes the answer.

Should you appeal in Evergreen Park?

Honestly, for most people the answer is no, and we'd rather tell you that than have you find out the hard way. The only real question is whether your home sits above the range for similar homes near you. Our free check reads Cook County's own records, runs that same per square foot comparison, and tells you straight which side you're on. Most people who use it get told not to bother.

How we know this

We took every 2024 house appeal in the Cook County Assessor's published appeals dataset and matched each property's PIN to its address in the Assessor's addresses dataset, so these are Evergreen Park's own numbers rather than its township's. Houses are classes 202 through 210, 234 and 278. A win means the certified value came in below the value the county mailed out. We only publish a town with at least 150 decided cases, because a rate built on fewer honestly isn't worth trusting.
